At SF Beta last week, I had the chance to meet the folks behind Loveland, one of the coolest and most unique groups to ever pass through our doors — and that’s saying a lot.
Loveland is a collaborative “micro real estate” project based in Detroit. For $1, you can buy one square inch of land on a parcel of land that Loveland owns. The inch (or inches) are yours to do with as you will.
To sell inches, they use the popular fundraising site Kickstarter, and the results have been quite a success, with their first parcel completely sold out, and their second making good progress. The more you buy, the more prizes you get, including a Detroit Ice Potato — and who wouldn’t want one of those?

Dude, the event was awesome, thanks for having us. It was a real pleasure to be back in internetland ground zero showing off our genre-bending baby and meeting new friends and inchvestors. Perhaps we’ll have to expand and help start a DetroitBeta?
